Prof. Bui Thanh Hung

Keynote Title: Explainable Artificial Intelligence through Example-Based Twin Systems

Prof. Bui Thanh Hung received his M.S. degree and Ph.D. degree from Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST), Japan, in 2010 and 2013, respectively. He served as Director of the Data Analysis Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (DAAI Lab) at Thu Dau Mot University from 2018 to 2021 and Director of the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (AI Lab) at Ton Duc Thang University from 2021 to 2022.

Currently, he works with the Data Science Laboratory and serves as the Head of the Data Science Department, Faculty of Information Technology, Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. He has successfully completed three research projects and has published 33 journal articles, 9 books, 35 book chapters, 50 international conference papers, and 29 domestic conference papers.

He has received several Best Paper Awards, including FICTA 2018, RICE 2020, ICAIAA 2021, CIEMA 2022, and SCMIM 2025. He was recognized as an Excellent Scientific Researcher at Thu Dau Mot University in 2019, 2020, and 2021, and received the CIEMA Research Excellence Award in 2022.

Prof. Hung serves as a reviewer for numerous reputed journals and international conferences and has delivered keynote speeches at various national and international events. His primary research interests include Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, Machine Translation, Text Processing, Data Science, Computer Vision, and Artificial Intelligence.



Dr. K Naveen Kumar
Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), Abu Dhabi, UAE

Dr. K Naveen Kumar is a researcher in Artificial Intelligence with expertise spanning trustworthy federated learning, AI security and privacy, agentic AI systems, and vision-language models for healthcare and autonomous systems. He is currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Machine Learning Department at MBZUAI, Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Dr. Naveen earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad), where he received the Ph.D. Research Excellence Award for the year 2023–2024. He also holds an M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Hyderabad and a B.Tech from IIIT Vadodara, Gujarat, graduating with distinction at every stage of his academic journey.

His research contributions include advancements in secure and privacy-preserving distributed machine learning (federated learning), defense mechanisms against adversarial attacks, data-centric AI for medical imaging, and autonomous vehicle perception under transitional weather conditions. He has published in several premier venues such as IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence (TPAMI), Transactions on Machine Learning Research (TMLR), IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security (T-IFS), IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems (T-ITS), CVPR, INFOCOM, among others.

He is also a co-inventor of two granted Indian patents on transitional weather generation and adaptive object detection for autonomous vehicles. He has held visiting research positions at Purdue University (USA), the University of Agder (Norway), Hiroshima University (Japan), and TCS Research, contributing to cutting-edge research in artificial intelligence and machine learning.

In addition, he serves as a reviewer for several top-tier AI and computer vision conferences and IEEE Transactions journals. His expertise spans trustworthy distributed machine learning, AI security and privacy, agentic AI systems, and vision-language models for healthcare and autonomous systems.

Beyond foundational research, Dr. Naveen actively works on deployable AI systems, building end-to-end AI pipelines, optimizing models for edge devices, and contributing to practical AI innovations across healthcare and smart transportation.
